  • Nope! Tahi Rua Toru Tech is completely free to use in your school or kura, thanks to the generous support we receive from industry partners.

  • Whenever works best for you and your students.  There is no specific start date to the program, we allow teachers to select this when registering their teams via their 123Tech teacher dashboard. 

  • The challenge runs over 10 weeks, with a grace period of an additional 2 weeks to remove any unwanted stress from students (and teachers!)

  • Tahi Rua Toru Tech runs from Year 1 through to Year 13.  Year 1 to Year 6 is in-class, activity-based challenges while Year 5 through to Year 13 is a project-based program. 

  • Nope! Tahi Rua Toru Tech was designed to align with the progress outcomes at every level of schooling.  The challenge is directly aligned with the DT&HM curriculum content. 

  • Nope! Tahi Rua Toru Tech is a project-based challenge, which works through a process of what a ‘real life’ project would look and feel like.

  • Teams consist of a minimum of 2 students up to a max of 4.  We also run a Secondary Solo program where Year 11 to 13 can take part as individuals. 

  • You don’t need to provide any resources, we have taken out all the hard work and have provided these for you via your 123Tech teacher dashboard. 

  • We want the challenge to be a positive experience for students, and realise things happen, so if your teams are having any issues meeting the 10/12 week timeframe please get in touch with us.  We’re always happy to accommodate. 

  • Not at all!  We have had a number of teams complete the program without having working prototypes at the end of the challenge.  The program is marked on teams use of documentation,  The more detailed the documentation is the more visual picture we have of a team’s project!
